Bonus Blog Post Alert!

In the highly unlikely event that you simply can’t get enough of my blog posts, you can read a bonus one from me this week over on the Minerva Blogger Network.

These are the Winslow Culottes from Helen’s Closet. This pleated look satin fabric in the perfect slightly sparkly pink was gifted to me by Minerva in exchange for an honest blog post about what I make with it.

This fabric satisfies both the inner 8 year old child who twirls and sparkles inside of me and the grown up Beck who yearns for a wardrobe of colour coordinated interchangeable elevated basics.

That’s no mean feat!

Random aside: Do you have any items in your closet that you just can’t let go of? I think of myself as pretty unsentimental with my wardrobe but this run-down grey tee-shirt was what I was wearing when I gave birth to my son and I just cannot frickin’ let it go no matter how ratty it gets!!!

Yeah, yeah, I know. Too much information… Sorry!

Second time lucky…

This was my second time sewing the Winslow Culottes and I do greatly prefer my latest version.

I lowered the crotch a tad to deal with my hungry butt, making these much more comfortable. I also realised that I do really prefer the Winslow Culottes at their long version because it really shows off the beautiful pleats and the movement and volume which makes this pattern such a stunner.

The other practical dilemma which has arisen with my shorts version of the Winslow Culottes is that, well, those shorts are actually a lot of volume really close to my butt. Which means that tasks like running around after a 4 year old can lead to some “flashy” moments!

So, ummm, yeah, the extra length feels much safer!

Deja-vu!

These pink pleated Winslow Culottes were actually inspired by a previous make. Here, the resemblance is obvious:

Pink pleats and grey elastic! Sometimes when you like a combination, why resist returning to it!

That skirt doesn’t fit me anymore and I’ve currently going through a “I deserve beautiful clothes that fit my body whatever size I’m at” stage. Thus, the desire to remake it even bigger and better in the form of these standout Winslow Culottes.

Plus I have a fabric confession to make: I really find it difficult to resist a pre-pleated or pleated look fabric. It’s quite rare to find and when I do, it feels just so, well special, that it’s hard for me to walk away.

I mean, who could walk away from this:

Can’t believe how much musing about sewing there’s been since then…

OK, so I guess I’m going to call it a wrap because I’ve already managed quite a few words for a blog post which isn’t actually talking properly about an actual make!!!
