Today I’ve got my review of the Fibre Mood Judy Dress. And, ohhh, am I happy with this beauty!
The star of this show is definitely this gorgeous cotton eyelet/embroidered fabric that I got from The Fabric Sales in Belgium. I initially ordered 1.5 metres of it because I wanted it for a top. Well, it arrived, I saw how gorgeous it was, and I promptly ordered 1.75metres more because I knew it needed to be turned into a dress.
But, which dress?
Enter: Fibre Mood Judy.
I had seen some lovely versions of this dress popping up online. And I knew that the cotton would really give some volume to the gathers and movement of this dress.
Basically, this was one of those rare moments when you see a pattern and a fabric and you JUST KNOW it is going to be a great match.
My Fibre Mood Judy dress is a size large, which was the size recommended based on my body measurements.
I found the Fibre Mood Judy an absolute breeze to sew and was basically completely uneventful. Which is kind of how I like my sewing to be!
I used some of the gorgeous Arrow Mountain buttons I’ve been holding onto to make the back look extra special!
The only modification I have made to my Fibre Mood Judy is the addition of some “after thought” ties into the side seam, which I use to cinch in the waist at the back.
When I completed my Fibre Mood Judy, I loved it from the front but it was really bulky and over-sized. From the side and back view, it looked rather sack-like. While this crazy volume could look intentionally fabulous in a more drapey fabric, in my voluminous cotton it just looked rather, well, unfinished and unintentional.
So, inspired by the way it is done in the Duplantier Dress by Elbe Textiles, I added in some ties at the side seam. With the ability to now cinch in the waist at the back, I absolutely love this Fibre Mood Judy.
It is fulfilling all my summer dress fantasies. Now, just need to wait for that summer to, umm, actually arrive!!!!
hat a beautiful breezy summer dress.
Thanks!
